It has been an excellent week in year 3. The children have become wacky inventors and started making their own inventions books. We have some budding inventors in our class and I would really like some of the inventions made, including a flying car and a cooking machine that makes whatever you write down! If they come up with any other exciting inventions at home get add it into their inventors notebook to bring it. I can't wait to see what other exciting inventions they come up with. In maths we have been learning to tell the time which over the week the children have really picked up. They can now tell the time to o'clock and half past, have started to tell the time to quarter past and quarter to and some children can even tell the time to the nearest five minutes. We have also been learning to convert these times to and from digital time which the children are starting to pick up.

We have started the new half term with discussing what we already know about our topic of Inventions and what we would like to find out. We have started our science topic of electricity and circuits with disccusing things that use electricity to work. The children have enjoyed starting to learn the songs for our Christmas Play "The Egyptian Nativity". We will be sorting out the roles next week and will send home words for the children to learn. In maths we have been using the number facts to 10 to help us with larger additions and subtractions using place value to help us. We have also started to learn how to do collumn addition. In P.E we have started our gymnastics with holding balances and linking sequences of shapes.
