Following our Sound workshop, the children wrote blogs about our outdoor activities. Here are a few for you to read. Photos to follow!

First we went into our outdoor classroom to collect sounds for our sound topic. The place that Miss Taylor took us to was very interesting and so beautiful. We closed our eyes and we counted the sounds. When I heard the words, I imagined the little birds flying in the air tweeting away. It felt so magical.I felt very clam and a little terrified. I felt calm because the wind was blowing against me and I felt terrified because I thought that a spider would climb up my arm.

Yesterday we made memory stocks outside int he forest. I felt relaxed and clam. We went outside to listen to some sounds. I heard a cockerel, crow=s, birds, cars, trains and the wind. We were making instruments and we needed a sound so we went to find some. On my memory stock I out wet leaf to remind me me of the wet grass that we sat on. Also I chose a strip of grass and tied it around my stick to remind me of the new, fresh air and the trees' oxygen. Last but not least I chose a couple of pine cones and stuck them on to remind me of the squirrels and nature.

Yesterday Year 3 went to the outdoor classroom to make a memory stick. When we made the sticks, everybody felt very excited. On the memory sticks, people used wet leaves to remind them of when we were sitting on the damp grass. as well as leaves people put mini pine cones on so they remembered how nice and pretty the outside classroom was. Some people even used little bits of grass so they could remember how fresh the outdoors was. Everybody made loads of progress!

Yesterday we went to our outdoor classroom, outside on the field. We went there to do some work. At the end of the lesson we made a memory stick in order to remember that lesson outside. Ms Taylor told us to put 3 things on it and to have a reason. I used a leaf because it reminded me of the wetness and the freshness there! I was really, really sad when we had to stop making it but luckily we could take it back to class. Then we walked through the squelchy mud back to class with the memory stick. I was a bit sad when the lesson was over but we had another exciting lesson waiting for us.

This is just an update on our Courtyard project!
Year 3 has raised an incredible £328.85 from the sponsored write and bun sale. Thank you again for all your support – it really means a lot to us!
This half term we will be planning and budgeting for the project. As Christmas is on its way and the weather is unpredictable, Mrs Grassham and I think it is more realistic that we will start clearing and developing the area from January onwards.
We will be using some of our Maths investigation sessions to think about budgeting and costs. In computing, we will locate products and suppliers to use in sessions on planning the area both before and after Christmas.
So – we have not stopped! Thanks again for your support and we will keep you updated.

Our trip to Magna was a great success!The children behaved beautifully and we saw some amazing sights. Rather than telling you myself, I thought the children could tell you about our trip. Here are two of our recounts, though I must say it was incredibly to difficult to choose from our class writing. Well done Year 3 for super recount writing!

Years 3 and 4 went on a school trip to Magna. We went to Magna because our topic is forces. The day we went to Magna was Friday 7th November 2014.
When we were on the coach I was really excited because I’ve never been to Magna.
First we had a health and safety lesson and then we went to the air pavilion. We went in a room with air pipes and with buzzing in it and there were big fans in the air pavilion.
In the water pavilion there was a mini shower and water guns. The mini shower was best and I went under it but I got drenched. There were boats sailing on water.
We all really enjoyed it at Magna. My favourite part of the day was the fire pavilion because of the fire tornado. I learnt how to make a rocket. Any people of any age would want to go!

On Friday 7th November 2014, Years 3 and 4 went on the most amazing school trip to Magna because we wanted to learn about forces for our science. It was in Rotherham near Sheffield. Miss Taylor told us to put our high viz jackets on. When I was on the school bus the teachers told me to put my seat belt on so we didn’t have an accident. When we got to Magna, people were laughing and joking. However, we did not know how much fun it would be!
In the morning my class went to the air and fire pavilion. My favourite was the fire pavilion because of the super-fast fire tornado twirling for all it was worth. Then after the two very entertaining pavilions we went to a workshop. In a team we had to make a hot air balloon. Everyone was scared!
After lunch we went to the biggest pavilion that had two floors – the water pavilion. The water pavilion was everybody’s favourite pavilion because of the shower, the boat and the water pistol. My favourite was the boat because I didn’t get my hair wet in the shower.
The visit was the best visit ever and I think everybody in the school would adore this trip! I think it was a present to be able to go on this trip to Magna. We learnt how hot air balloons fly and also that animals were the first things to go up in a hot air balloon.

Years 3 and 4 did a fantastic job during our Boudicca Music Day! They learnt all about beat and rhythm and presented a super song poem. Considering it was all done in a day, they achieved a tremendous amount! We were really impressed by the turn out for the event - thank you grown ups for making the time to come and see the performance.

our trip to the Leeds City Museum was a great hit with the children! They really enjoyed dressing up as Romans and learning all about the period. We did manage to get to the animal and mummy sections too!Thank you again to our helpers!

We have completed our sponsored write! Thank you for your generosity! The children made a super effort with their writing and I will be sending their pieces home to you. We are really looking forward to our trip to the museum this week. I am sure that as well as Romans, we will find time to have a peek at the famous Leeds mummy!

Just a quick note to let you know that our bun sale raised £60.30p! We are all so pleased - thank you for all you donations and for buying the buns! I have to say Mrs Grassham and I were really impressed with the baking of our parents. I think we need to plan a tea party next!
